Daydreaming

Madeline Miller ‘27

A diptych representing my desire to dream. Daydreaming while I'm awake and dreaming while I'm asleep, there is a constant cycle of tuning out of reality. This piece was inspired by art nouveau and contrasting warm and cool tones.

Silent Tension

LYRICS

CHORUS 1

Been kind of outta touch lately

someone please set me free

all these other things don't matter

only matters how It ends

VERSE

but this isn't a final finale

I see a hopeless joy sprouting all around me

the world is only more than its darkest alleys

so it won't stop spinning if we're still here singing

Till our thoughts grow colder older

Minds grow strong as the days go on

 I can't help but stay

 I can't help but say

CHORUS 2

Been kind of out of touch lately

 Someone please set me free

all these other things don't matter

 only matters how It ends

 Everything crumbling through my hands

Falling through my fingers like sand

salt and bitter whispers on backs

 Silent tension invisible attacks

This song is something i've been trying to write for months and finally got around to finishing it. Silent Tension is about some of my favorite people in the world, my friends who live next door. We haven't really talked or hung out this whole year. The song is a reminder to the thoughts in the back of my mind that repeat "it's over, we all grew apart" and change them into, "we'll only grow apart if we give up". So thanks to this piece, I won't give up on our friendship.
