Lacework Reflection
Emily Ding ‘26
This portrait is a reflection of my struggles with my art, specifically, how it has affected my psyche. In a veil of lace, I retreat into myself as the pressure of perfection eats away at me. Through contrasting hues, I juxtapose the soft colors of the illusion with visceral graphics to highlight the fears that seep through the seams.
Confrontation
Emily Ding ‘26
This piece showcases a shift in my mindset as I gradually begin to confront the source of my fears, looking deep into a false mirror that only reflects the unattainable ideals I set for myself. I contrast vibrancy and saturation as well as juxtaposing the figures in the composition to highlight the differences in ideals vs. reality, creating a duality.
