She Sells Seashells
Willa Kanter ‘26
This sculpture is constructed from seashells shaped by erosion and time. The hand represents rebuilding and care, highlighting how bonds can deepen even amidst the absence of environmental stability. The open hand suggests openness instead of loss, while the completed structure signals that we can remain durable and resilient when together.
I love when people love each other
I love big groups.
I love sitting in a big circle on the sidewalk, while we eat lunch.
I love people who aren’t basic.
I love the ones who are brave enough to speak out and speak up.
I love my red, pointy cowboy boots and human rights, too.
I love the southern lifestyle and blue, glittery eyeshadow under my eyes.
I love watching people protest with homemade signs.
I love bringing homemade cookies to my friends.
I love watching my friends love what I made.
I love not being a person who is judgmental.
I love being friends with people from all walks of life even more.
I love when my friends show they care, especially if they aren’t softies.
I love hugs.
I love my sport and the animals that come with it.
I love late night car rides.
I love when the music is on full blast while we cruise down Beeline Hwy. with the windows down.
I love laughing as my friend pokes her head out of the sunroof, while we sing a song from 2016.
I love starting bonfires with them on the beach.
I love being a teen with teen friends who do teen things because it makes me feel free.
I love being free to believe in a god that probably isn’t real.
I love listening to people talk about their gods.
I love when people love each other.
I love the ones who don’t know how to love themselves.
I love being someone with a heart big enough to love instead of being someone who can’t love at all.

I wrote this poem as one of our assignments in class, where we wrote the beginnings of an imitation of the poem"Love" by Alex Dimitrov. I ended up really liking what I had written, so I decided to just go from there.
